WHY I GO TO CHURCH

PERFECT families?

I remember walking into church feeling like everybody there was living a perfect life EXCEPT ME.

Perfect families sitting in straight, perfect rows.

THINK AGAIN.

I just needed a few years to learn that we ALL fall down and get back up over and over again.

IT’S CALLED REAL LIFE.

It’s messy and there are seasons of darkness and struggles. The details are unique to each of us as individuals, but the experience is SHARED. It’s a chosen plan that we’re all embracing on our very IMPERFECT journeys.

Shared imperfection.

Not giving up.

Grace for us all.

ISN’T THAT BEAUTIFUL.

Now in my wiser years, I’m proud to drag my imperfect self into church to reach for a whisper, a hug or a spiritual pat on the back which testifies of truth and hope. Messages felt in the heart that say -

You’re not alone.

Let’s do this together.
